In many key technologies, high-performance nickel alloys, titanium and zirconium are indispensable for the industrial-scale implementation and safe control of advanced high-temperature processes in corrosive environments. They are used in energy and environmental engineering, electronics and electrical engineering, in the automotive industry, aerospace engineering, the chemical and petrochemical industries, offshore and marine engineering, in industrial furnace construction and, last but not least, in medical engineering.

Housing components for gas turbines is an example of applications for high-performance nickel alloys with improved high-temperature strength and chemical stability in corrosive media. The automotive industry uses  catalytic converters in which the catalyst support of the all-metal version is made from Aluchrom. In addition, nickel alloys are used for exhaust manifolds, high-nickel wires in the spark plugs for petrol engines. Strip made of resistance alloys is used for the starting and braking resistors in electric rail vehicles.

Fuel cells also exploit the advantages of Crofer alloys. In aerospace engineering, super alloys are used for the combustion chambers of modern aircraft engines the noozle extension of the European rocket "Ariane" is made of cobalt based alloy supplied by ThyssenKrupp VDM.
